buried not burned - though i may change my mind.

I have a blue/grey "antique" travelling trunk that I've been lugging around for the past 10 years or more, which was given to me as a birthday gift by Rob Rainbow during my time in Routipec. It's one of my favourite things and I hope to keep it all my life, serving as a table and as a vessel for all of my precious things in all of my various homes. I would like to be buried in my trunk. It's sturdy and can be secured with a padlock, although I'm not at all sure that I would want to be locked in. I'll have to be put into some sort of foetal position in order to be able to fit in, but I'll fit in somehow I'm sure and I imagine there will still be some space for some of my precious things to be buried with me by way of packing material. In time I'll add a list of my preferred "grave goods" to this entry, but for now let it be known that I want to be buried in my trunk.

always had a funny thing about religion - but never been overly religious, so no. no religion thanks.

family. friends. strangers, if they want to come.

"my death" by scott walker (singing a jacques brel song). mainly cos it's ridiculous and goes on for ages. "Lazarus" by The Boo Radleys (full version). This is a song which I have loved since I first heard it, and I have also always liked - and kind of related to - the lyric: "I feel like I've spent my whole life just kicking round and not getting in the way" ...but not in a negative way. "Wings of a Dove" by The Maestro's All Steel Band, from their album "The Caribbean Sound'. I have it on vinyl somewhere, itís pretty much the most beautiful song I know, and itís funny, and itís sad and it's happy. If thereís no other music at my funeral, then there better be this track... maybe some of my homemade tape loop music - cos it's ridiculous and goes on for ages also.

nothing from the bible. maybe somehting from something by carson mccullers, from "a tree, a rock, a cloud", or "the heart is a lonely hunter". i'll pay more atention next time i read it to see if anything in particular stands out.
