RELIGION
I am most Christian when it comes to philosophy. I like to think that I try to live in a fairly Christian way, although I'm not so sure on that. But I don't think that it would make sense to have a Christian funeral because it's not as if funerals are in the Bible much (or if they are, there's nothing about the traditions Western people have at funerals). I guess funerals are bad the same way that obituaries are bad. Then again if it could be an old sort of church with a yew, preferably falling down, then I might be interested.

OBITUARY
It is naive to think that simply because obituaries are written, most people's lives are worthwhile or their achievements large enough, assessed genuinely, to be visible to human perception. The obituary is a device by which society lulls itself into the delusion that people's lives are frequently worthwhile. I guess it also suggests that indeed that (freakiest of all) you can compare most people's achievements, or should want to do so. So let's not have one. Put me on a par with child-killers by default if you want, but don't obituate me, I never asked to belong in your little clockwork schema.

OTHER
I don't know. I think some weird ritual would be good, but it would have to be a bit different. What about people going into the sea and doing an angry dance.
