OTHER
Death might be what the ones being left behind experience, rather than what happens to the person who “dies”. Death is not a terminus but part of a process. It is light and love for the person who dies. And because of that, the ones left behind can share in that light rather than darkness. I have always knew I belong in the forest. I love the moss. The moist, the smell, the color and complexity of moss. And the little antennas that grow from its protective softness up toward the light. The detail, once you get really close. Draw a breath of moss. And all that is life. For my funeral I would like the ones that have the possibility, to go out in the forest. Be there, with themselves and perhaps each other for a while, long or little. To cherish and to mourn. And I would like you to bring something with you from the forest. Something for the funeral, and something that you take with you home. I would like a ceremony to be held at Skogskyrkogården / the forest churchyard, because that is where I have gone, alone or in later years, with Mira to light a candle for my father Karl, or for my grandmother Antonia and my grandfather Edgar. On the second hill. I would like a ceremony to be held there. Or otherwise inside in the church. With the moss and flowers, leaves and branches, stones, feathers, and bark from forests. And perhaps the water from a brook or rill. And even though this may seem a bit too thought out – it isn´t, I am almost surprised by the ”coincidence” as I write this - it would be lovely if you would like to play Skogsblommor /Metsäkukkia/ Flowers of the forest on whatever instruments. And I would love you to sing it too, without words (unless someone happens to know them in Finnish, Estonian or whatever language) just humming or singing without words. youtube.com/watch?v=ERj-98JlUqk NR=1&feature=fvwp Afterward I would like people to stay together for some time, maybe having a meal and wine. And dance if you feel like it, and hug! – I said to someone the other day: Come on, why is this: I´ve known for so long that I have a longing to the forest, but I haven´t been there in years? And she answered: It is so that you will feel and know when you come home.
